Dual Diagnosis Rehab Programs
Dual diagnosis treatment consists of treating the patient's physical addiction as well as any major mental health disorders they may possess. Mental health disorders, which can sometimes be an unknown or underlying problem to the individual, are often the root cause of drug abuse or alcoholism. Patients who suffer from mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, bi-polar, schizophrenia, or post-traumatic stress disorder, have often turned to drugs and alcohol in order to cope with or mask these issues. It is crucial that these disorders are accurately diagnosed and treated in addition to the physical addiction to ensure the patient's success in dual diagnosis treatment.
By performing a comprehensive psychological assessment on each of it's patients, Unity Recovery center will be able to determine what kind of regime will work best for an addict's recovery. Our dual diagnosis treatment programs may include:
- Medication
- Detoxification
- Individual Therapy
- Group Therapy
- Family Therapy
- Counseling
- 12 Step Meetings
- Other therapeutic options such as acupuncture or meditation.
Through therapy and counseling, patients are taught how to acknowledge their problems and respond to them in a healthy way, one that does not include drug or alcohol abuse. In these therapy sessions, be it privately or in a group, a patient is allowed the chance to address their addiction and clarify maybe for the first time, the link between their emotional thoughts or feelings and their drug or alcohol use. Treating a patient's mental health issue in these programs in addition to treating their physical addiction, gives a patient who is suffering from dual diagnosis the best chance at a successful recovery.
